Taxes
Ohio is at a crossroads. Every day we lose people and jobs to states with more competitive tax rates. For example, states like Tennessee, Florida, and Texas have eliminated their income tax, and entrepreneurs and retirees are flocking there. As a House member, Thom addressed this problem by introducing legislation to eliminate Ohio's income tax and he helped craft legislation that reduced the income taxes by every Ohioan by 21%. As Ohio enters into this debate, it is important to have a proven tax-cutter representing us in the State Senate.
Fiscal Responsibility
Thom Collier is a fiscal conservative who believes that government needs to live within its means. During his time in the Ohio House, Thom was awarded the Watchdog of the Treasury Award for his commitment to fiscal responsibility. One of Thom's top priorities in the Senate will be reining in state spending.
Education
The strength of Ohio's economic future is dependent upon the strength of the education that our children receive today. Thom Collier believes that in order to have a strong educational system, there must be three key components: competition, high standards, and adequate funding.
Traditional Values
Thom Collier is 100% pro-life. Thom believes life is precious and he has been consistently endorsed in his past campaigns by the Ohio Right to Life Committee. Thom will always stand up and speak out for the unborn. Thom also believes that marriage should be between one man and one woman, and he will fight any efforts to legalize gay marriage in Ohio.
2nd Amendment
Thom is a defender of the 2nd Amendment. Thom is a member of the NRA and has been endorsed by them in past campaigns and has been given an A rating. Thom Collier was a co-sponsor of Ohio's Concealed Carry law and the Castle Doctrine and he will always vote to protect our 2nd Amendment rights.
